Official Biography: Hugh Hegarty
Hugh Hegarty is an international education leader and consultant with executive experience across schools, multi-academy trusts, and universities in the UK, Ireland, Middle East and Central Asia. Hugh Hegarty has advised and supported the development of De Montfort University Kazakhstan and served successfully as Interim CEO of De Montfort University Kazakhstan. Hugh is an Advisor to Edperitus, supporting global university establishment and leadership development.
Hugh’s career includes roles as CEO of the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust and Executive Principal in the Abu Dhabi ADEC PPP programme. Known for his expertise in organisational growth, quality assurance, and strategic planning, he has led major improvement programmes, mentored senior leaders, and transformed school and university systems in diverse international environments. Hugh has worked with investors to open Dubai Heights Academy and Ajyal International Schools in Abu Dhabi. Hugh has deployed leading school advisory teams across the Middle East to work with schools on curricular reform and leadership development programmes
