St Francis Xavier Celebrates Another Year of Exceptional GCSE Results Summer 2025
Students and staff at St Francis Xavier School in Richmond are celebrating after another year of exceptional GCSE results, reflecting the continued improvement in secondary school outcomes across the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust (NPCAT) under the leadership of CEO Hugh Hegarty who completed his final academic year with these outcomes.
The school, which is part of NPCAT, continued to achieve strong academic performance, reinforcing the trust’s focus on high standards, excellent teaching and ambitious aspirations for every pupil under Hegarty’s leadership from 2018 until July 2025.
In Media reports in August 2025 Headteacher Jacqueline Prime praised the achievements of this year’s cohort, describing them as “an exceptional group of students” who had shown resilience, commitment and ambition throughout their time at the school.
She said:
“This exceptional group of students has every reason to feel immensely proud. Through dedication, resilience, and a true commitment to excellence, they have achieved outstanding results across a diverse range of subjects.
Many have not only met but exceeded their targets, surpassing even their own expectations of what was possible. Others have demonstrated remarkable perseverance, overcoming challenges with courage and determination, never losing sight of their goals.
We are genuinely thrilled by their achievements. It has been a privilege to support and witness their growth throughout their secondary school journey. As they now step into the next exciting chapter—whether that be sixth form, apprenticeships, or other ventures—we look forward with great anticipation to all that lies ahead. Congratulations to each and every one of you.”
Under Hugh Hegarty’s leadership of NPCAT from 2018 until 2025 some 7 years, secondary schools across the trust benefited from a clear strategic focus on:
• Raising academic outcomes
• Securing excellent behaviour and high expectations
• Strengthening leadership and classroom practice
• Creating calm, supportive learning environments
St Francis Xavier’s GCSE results can be viewed as further evidence of this trust-wide improvement, demonstrating the positive impact of coordinated support and shared high standards across NPCAT schools.
